Mines and Metals Outputs Declared

TEHRAN - Steel production by the plants affiliated to the Ministry of Mines and Metals stood at 4.1 million tons during March-November of last year, announced the ministry's public relations office here on Sunday. Khuzestan Steel Complex during the period produced over one million tons of steel slabs and blooms. The production registered an increase of nine percent over that of same period last year, the report added, as quoted by IRNA. The complex further produced over 836,000 tons of steel products.
The steel slab output of the Mobarakeh Steel Complex during the eight month period stood at 1.7 million tons, showing a 15 percent increase compared to last year's production figure for the period. Mobarakeh output of steel products stood at 1.3 million tons, also registering an 18 percent increase compared to the output during the same period last year. The steel products and ingot productions by the Isfahan Steel Mill during the period stood at 1.5 and 1.4 million tons, respectively.
The productions showed a marked improvement over last year's figures of 1.3 and 1.2 million tons. The aluminum producer, Iran Aluminum Company, reached production levels of 59,000 tons of molten aluminum and 60,000 tons of casting aluminum, up 53 and 32 percents respectively from last year's production figures during the period. The national copper industries firm, processing some nine million tons of copper ore during the period, produced 248,000 tons of copper concentrate and molybdenum, 88,000 tons of annode copper, 65,000 tons of cathode copper, 39,471 tons of various castings as well as 10,496 kg of cathode silver.
The cathode gold productions by the firm stood at over 275 kg, registering a 9 percent increase over last year's figure. Iran's Gold Company's ingot production increased to 196.65 kg from last year's production figure of 145.17 kg. Iran's Mineral Production Company during the eight month period produced 5,431 tons of cathode zinc slab and 4,543 tons of zinc ingots, drastically improving its last year's eight month production figures of 3,135 and 2,377 tons, added the report.
